Leather books are restored with new leather. In a restoration, the book maintains the original materials, but has the strength of the new leather.
Cloth books can also be restored in cloth.
Large family Bibles can also be restored. They often need mending inside.
Often older books need some resewing. We use linen thread and do all our sewing by hand.
We can also oversew single sheets if necessary and rehinge map books or books with hinged plates.
